This neighborhood emergency department offers convenient 24/7 emergency care in the central Washington community of Union Gap. The 11,000 SF medical building features a distinctive glass canopy at the entry which is supported by cantilevered steel columns as well as a cantilevered ambulance driveway canopy to protect incoming patients and staff from the elements. The client wanted to maximize available space at the building interior, so PCS worked to place the exterior braced frames within the exterior walls to maximize square footage and eliminate intrusion of structural elements into the interior space. Large windows in the patient rooms allow daylight to fill the space and showcase nearby basaltic ridge views.
