Salish Middle School

The new 106,000 square-foot Salish Middle School is organized by North Thurston Public Schools' proven “house”model: 6th-grade students are semi-separated on the lower wing of the school to ease the transition from elementary school, while 7th- and 8th-grade students study and collaborate on the upper floor. A two-story common area with exposed glulam beams and structural elements allows all students and staff to intermingle, with long sight lines allowing for efficient supervision. The 15,000 square-foot masonry gym for student and community use rounds out this comprehensive middle school.
